Phra Maha Itsara Yanissaro, known as Maha Tan to his closest followers, was born on Tuesday, 24 January, 1995 to the Ramesrittikorn family in the Ban Na District in Nakhon Nayok province. In his youth, he was a humble child who was intelligent, eager to learn and had a great memory.
In year 2007 after completing his grade 6 in Thai education Phra Itsara (at age 12 years old then) ordained as a novice monk (Samanera) under Phra Maha Sirisawat. Phra Maha Sirisawat sent Samanera Itsara to study the Pali and Dharma at Wat Dao Wadueng Saram, Bangkok.
On 15 June 2016, at the age of 21, Phra Itsara ordained as a monk at Wat Daowaduengsaram in Bangkok with Somdej Phra Phuttajahn (Sanit Chuanpan Maha Sangha) of Wat Traimit Wittayaram Worawiharn as his Preceptor. He was given the Sangha name of Yanisaro which mean Great Wisdom.
With a deep interest in Dharma, Phra Maha Itsara continued his study in Buddhism and diligent study and was conferred with a Bachelor of Arts in English Language from the Maha Chulalongkorn Rajavidyalaya University, Bangkok in 2017. Phra Itsara also took the Pali Examination Sanam Luang and was able to reach level 6 and was obtained the Maha status in Pali Proficiency in 2018 and was also appointed as a teacher of the Pali language for other monks.
Phra Itsara is also a disciple of the famous Lord Tao Wessuwan master, LP It of Wat Chulamanee. You can always see LP It appearing in any amulet blessing ceremony by Phra It Sara and Phra Itsara always seek LP It's a blessing and advice.
